Art Influenced by the Tropics: Flower Sketches
I think I’ve travelled more in the last 3 months than I have in the last decade! When I sensed changes coming my way at the beginning of the year I didn’t quite anticipate the (positive) chaos it would toss me into. Fret not folks, we have been busy in the background. Reassessing the different directions we’ve taken in the last year, figuring which ones failed and which ones seem to be working, and heading out into new and rather scary directions for the future!
Is that a good enough explanation for our sudden and absolute absence from the blogging and social world/whirl? We’re still working things out, my business partner and I, but it’s finally beginning to feel like a spring-clean that’s sweeping the negative out and allowing the good energy to come flowing in.
I still carry my little portable watercolours around with me as I travel back and forth from home in Malaysia, and miracle of miracles I’ve actually managed to get a few quick sketches done. How do the rest of you cope with painting or sketching while travelling? I always find myself too worn out to even consider opening the sketchbook up … I suppose that, as with everything else, it’s a matter of practice practise practise … cultivating the good habits and getting rid of the bad.
I’m off for another trip to the heat of Malaysia, and this time I shall try to cultivate better habits and do a bit of art daily … particularly as I really do enjoy the therapeutic benefits of wielding the brush and splashing colour around. And I’m certainly surrounded by colour out there! I’ll leave you with a few photos from my mother’s garden … which is where I stay when I go over, how blessed am I?!
Had to include the cat … especially as I love way the colour of his fur just melts and merges so beautifully with the terracotta background, such rich and lush hues. I’ll be back very soon so don’t go too far …
