Hot & Spicy Chilli Pepper Sketches
10 August 2018
This month I decided to go with a theme for my new addiction, the bullet journal ... I'm finally emotionally committed to a planner! And the bonus of course is that I'm getting far more organised, and creatively so. So far I've been illustrating it with whatever came to mind, but finally decided to leap in and follow an overall theme for this month.
I picked hot and spicy, to represent the heat of August (though of course the weather is contradicting me -- it's cool and drizzly today). Chilli peppers and plants in reds, oranges, yellows and purples, lovely and colourful for bright summer days.
I sat to plan out and prep the loose and easy, go-with-the-flow sketches for the theme. A contradiction, yes, but I have fun with contradictions. Life is wonderfully full of them!
I had fun exploring bright colours and shapes of chillies and plants. After which, of course, it was all tossed out the window and replaced with a stylised version for most of the pages. Here's what ended up as the cover page for the month of August:
- Stillman & Birn Beta Softcover Sketchbook 8X10: UK and USA
- SCHMINCKE AKADEMIE® Aquarell watercolours: UK and USA
- Escoda Joseph Zbukvic Mod. 8605 brushes: UK and USA
- Winsor & Newton Size 2 Pure Squirrel Pointed Wash Brush: UK and USA
- Bullet Journal: Scribbles That Matter (Pro version) Dotted Journal A5: UK and USA
