Daily Art: A Temporary Obsession with Rose Hips
Apart from a few days of extra busy-ness finishing up the new Mariana Black website, I’ve managed to get some art done daily, whether in one of my various sketchbooks or in my bullet journal, and the pieces range from imaginative illustrations, loose odd bits and bobs, favourite botanical interpretations or anything that captures my mood on the day really.
This time i was inspired by the beautifully odd and weird rose hips that were abundant in gardens as I walked into town … there’s something quite magical about them, and, as you can see, I tried a few times to capture that feeling.
I don’t think I quite expressed the kinked-up looseness that I was trying to free from my inner sight, but still find the results joyful although I’m not too sure about the typography! I’m going to put them up as art prints and perhaps even place one on an organic t-shirt … that’s the next step. A planner printable as well maybe? We’ll see!
I think I’ll set the temporary obsession with rose hips aside for now. I’ve been asked to paint some herbs and that really quite delights me and am looking forward to a small herby project that I can work on daily. Just for a bright touch I’m also adding a photo that I took quite by mistake of my watercolour set, below … I just love the messy joyful look of it! Cheers.
