Magic with Archer & Olive

Magic with Archer & Olive

29 June 2018

I was hugely delighted when my second piece for the Archer and Olive #aopaintingparty won me a lovely notebook. My art has been changing, evolving, travelling into directions unknown, and I feel as though my explorations and loose experimentation has been in some way validated ... that digging in deep and just allowing the brushes and paints to take me where they wish no matter how imperfect the end pieces seem -- well, that it's just 'right'.

I managed to take a photo of the work when I first began but of course promptly forgot to take any more throughout the rest of the painting process. But below is the notebook that I received from Archer and Olive today ... it's beautiful! I love the deep blue, and it's filled with lovely thick blank pages ... now to figure out what sketches I'll fill it with.

I'm travelling again tomorrow, going off to France for a few days with a good friend and meeting up with other friends, revisiting the beautiful countryside where I lived for eight lovely years. So this little notebook is perfect, and I 'm considering taking it along in order to fill it up with sketches and ideas and doodles while away. Sounds good, right? Let's hope the heat doesn't make me too languid and lazy! Cheers.
